Ford’s B-MAX is different to other MPVs in the class in more ways than one. It boasts an unconventional easy-access door design, comes fitted with Ford’s award-winning EcoBoost engine technology and is packed full of driver assistance technology.
The car’s tapered headlamps and gaping front grille are familiar Ford design features that give the B-MAX a modern look. Functionality is one of its biggest talking points, as the Ford Easy Access Door System conceals the central strengthening pillar within the doors rather than the body. This means that when you open the front doors and slide the rear back, an unobscured 1.5-metre wide opening is created. Strapping the kids in or accessing cargo has never been so easy.
Once you are inside the B-MAX you can enjoy a clear view out of the cabin from a high driving position. A full-length panoramic glass roof (standard on Titanium X) fills the interior with natural light for a roomier atmosphere in the front or back. The rear bench also has a 60/40 split folding function which offers seven separate seat folding combinations. By folding all but the front two seats, the B-MAX can shift as much as 1,386 litres of luggage.
A variety of engine options for the B-MAX allow you to maximise your driving enjoyment and satisfaction by picking the unit with the most desirable output.
The award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine blends power and economy to be a true all-rounder. The 123bhp EcoBoost with auto start/stop powers up through the gears confidently and achieves up to 57.7mpg combined.
Meanwhile, both 1.5-litre Duratorq diesels emit less than 100g/km of CO2 and return as much as 74.3mpg combined to tempt the most eco-aware buyers.
This capable family vehicle is reassuringly safe and full of Ford’s most advanced safety kit. Ford Intelligent Protection System (IPS) is one of the most notable as it combines an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and Traction Control System (TCS). Passive safety arrives in the shape of a rigid safety cell, seatbelts with pre-tensioners, and multiple airbags.
Keeping you entertained and connected on the road is a radio/CD player with DAB digital radio tuner and auxiliary input for plugging in an external device. This standard system gains a 3.5-inch multifunction display, USB connectivity, and the advanced Ford SYNC system from the Zetec trim. The technology includes a hands-free Bluetooth® interface with voice controls and Emergency Assistance which helps you to contact the emergency services if an accident occurs.
